As anyone who suffers from large, open pores knows, the skincare issue can be an incredibly stressful one.

"Although we cannot change the actual size of pores, we can help to minimize the appearance of pores, by using products that keep pores clean, so they don't get swollen and irritated," Dr Murad, dermatologist andfounder of Murad Skincare, told Cover Media. "It's also important to choose products that have anti-inflammatory and tightening effects. Glycolic and Salicylic Acids as well as Retinol and antioxidants in a formula help improve skin texture and improve the look of pores." There are a host of new products and rituals on the market nowadays that can help minimise pores and boost your self-confidence, read on for our tips on the best ones.

At home

If you're looking for a product to help minimise your pores in the comfort of your own home then Arbonne's range is a good place to start. Their Clear Future Deep Pore Blemish Cleanser removes excess oil and reduces shine without stripping skin of natural moisture, leaving it feeling soft. Salicylic acid exfoliates to reduce the number of blemishes by exfoliating dead skin cells and penetrating pores. Over time pores can appear minimised, creating a more even toned look to complexion. Their Deep Cleansing Mask is also a fantastic one to try.

Former MasterChef Finalist Angela Langford has worked hard to perfect her hero product, Perfect Pores, which contains rose petals, cypress & juniper, blended with electric daisies & hyaluronic acid to help smooth skin and reduce the appearance of pores. "This natural serum is great for improving the appearance of pores and smoothing skin," Angela explained. "This is your recipe for repelling wrinkles and improving your complexion."

Caolion is a natural brand whose sole aim it is to minimise pores. They sell four products but their Premium Hot & Cool duo cream is our favourite. This comes in a jar with two products, one of the top of the other - the hot cream opens the pore removing all the dirt, whilst the cool cream tighten pores, giving you glowing and smooth skin.

If you suffer from blackheads as well as large pores, then give Murad Skincare Blackhead & Pore Clearing Duo a try. This is a powerful duo that works together to reduce blackheads and seal pores. The Blackhead Remover extracts stubborn impurities from deep within pores and the Pore Refining Sealer provides a protective seal against pore-clogging impurities.

In the salon

If you've tried pore minimising products at home with little success then it might be time to think about seeking professional help in a salon. Dr Murad recommends regular deep cleansing facials, while Janne Richardson, founder and Aesthetics Consultant at Harpenden Skin Clinic, believes Botox could be the key to minimizing pores.

"Botox can be used to minimise pores. It is used in very small doses and is injected very superficially into the dermis," Janne told Cover Media. "There are tiny little muscles that surround pores and botox works by weakening these muscles along with the sweat and oil glands - this results in the tightening of pores and produces a more matte appearance to the skin. It works better on thicker skin such as the cheeks and nose."Read more at:prom dress | evening dresses uk
